Food: 4 stars Graciousness: 2 stars Overall: 3 stars Ooookayyy. I read all the other reviews and quite frankly am surprised by the resounding comments about the friendliness of the family that runs the restaurant. Hmm, maybe I caught them on a tough night? Hard to say. For details, read on... Originally had driven to the area to try Billy's Stonecrab & Seafood restaurant around the corner, but when we arrived there (about 6:30pm on a Saturday night), the place was PACKED and there was hardly any parking left in the OVERFLOW lot, so we left... Drove around the corner and saw this place. I saw the word 'CREPES' and was done! There isn't a crepe or a cupcake in this world that won't stop me dead in my tracks. The place is very small, quaintly lit and has old-world (read: German?) charm. There were no tables available when we arrived (there's only about 6-8 tables in the whole place) so we decided to order dinner to go. I'm not sure they are comfortable with to-go orders, as they seemed uneasy with the notion of us ordering crepes to go. The place is definitely family-run, the night I was there it appeared that Dad was in the kitchen, Mom was running around taking food orders and barking at her son in German, who was manning the front area and hosting. Perhaps I was privy to the goings-on of the establishment moreso than most visitors, as I had to wait for the food (whereas most patrons are seated in another area away from the front and kitchen). I felt bad for the son, who was getting an earful from his mother about something. She seemed to "rule with an iron fist" and intimidated the heck out of me! At one point, she didn't realize I had already paid her son and asked me to settle the check... It was her general demeanor and mannerisms, moreso than her actual words, that were intimidating. I felt uneasy, as if my to-go order was more of a nuisance than appreciated business. But whatever... perhaps that wasn't the case. The crepes we ordered were DELICIOUS. I ordered one with pork and gravy, that came with pickles and fresh cut onions (may sound gross, but it was amazing) and my friend ordered 'The Italian' which had cold cuts, tomato sauce and cheese on it. Unlike the crepes I'm used to, these were not rolled but were flat, with the toppings laying on top. Although individual items, they were large (think plizzetta pizza size from UNO) and were easily shareable. They were given to us in pizza boxes, in fact. About $14 each. My friend asked if they could cut it for him (it looked like an uncut pizza) and you would have thought we'd asked for something bizarre based upon the reaction from the family... ("This is a crepe! Not a pizza... It doesn't cut like a pizza.") So we ended up pulling it apart with our fingers and rolling the soft dough and fillings up and eating it like that. Still delicious!

Can't get enough. Possibly the best breakfast in town (depending what you are after) everything is tremendously good and the family that runs it are really sweet people. Be prepared for a bit of a wait for your food, they cook it to order, and the wait is well worth it. They provide you with games at each table so you can play and relax. Seriously its a wonderful place.

This is my favorite place to get an amazing breakfast. This is authentic German food even the owners speak German. We ordered the potato pancakes, sausage, hash browns, and the best of all was the eggs. Hands down the best eggs I have ever had. I think they put paprika and a blend of other seasonings in the eggs but it is so good. The service is always great. The restaurant is very cute and quaint. I enjoy how you can play miniature table games such as connect four while you wait for your food. There is also a bakery and store attached to it where you can buy a lot of pastry's and candy that are from Europe which is pretty neat. My husband and I enjoy this place and highly recommend it.

I rely on yelp a lot and this is the first time I have felt compelled to add a review of my own. We all ordered different breakfast items and all were delicious....potato pancakes, plum crepe, French toast, and Brie and fruit crepe. The service was great too!

I spend a lot of time house sitting in Tierra Verde and walking to the complex where this restaurant is located is great for me to get some dinner and avoid eating all my host's food. This place used to be called the German Crepes House, but has changed names. Still the same exact owners, a German family: Mom, Dad, and Son, barking orders to each other throughout the 3 petite sized rooms. Don't get alarmed by the abrasive way the family interacts with each other; I think they're just being a typical German family. They're super nice to guests. The rooms are decorated very homey and cute (hence the "cottage"). All the little knick-knacks lining the windowsills are for sale, and as I waited for my food to be served, I eyed this incredible gold watch for only $20 which will be a Xmas present for a friend (shh don't tell her). I ordered the Chicken Curry crepe. Man, it was the best savory crepe I have ever had. Fruits of strawberry, kiwi and grapes lined the outside of the crust and complimented the spice of the curry so nicely. It was huge and I was full after half, thankfully saving enough for tomorrow's lunch. I also got the apple strudel to-go for a late night snack--Vundabar! Don't forget to check out their little market place store offering lots of nice German packaged foods and sweets, also fresh baked bread. If you're in the area, check it out for sure.

SPACE - There were about 4-6 tables there. 2 were used for our group. Another review mentioned family-owned, and ran, so that explained a couple of things for me. SERVICE - not speedy but not slow like molasses either. Food came up fast for the group, but boy, she whizzed in and out from our little area so fast that she didn't notice that I had to wave her down each time. FOOD - I thought we were going to get almost paper-thin, light yellow, flour sheet, folded/wrapped withing light tasting savory/sweets. NOPE. Think pizza. Think opened-face pancake, though not as fluffy but almost as thick, covered with average tasting toppings. @$13.99-$15.99/each. I had the Expert; 1/3 Italian (salami&tomato sauce), 1/3 ham&cheese, 1/3 Forrester (don't remember what it is but it's better tasting than the other 2) Not a cheap dinner. But given the location, the rent must be high. PAYMENT: $20 minimum for credit card. No Discover.

Amazing food, great atmosphere, and great owners! The crepes were outstanding. I had the "Apple Garden" crepe that was just AWESOME! The owners took time out to joke around with our three year old and have good conversation with us. We will come back for sure!

Simply the best German restaurant and bakery in Florida we have ever visited, and our favorite place for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Awesome awesome food, with great beer that you will never find anywhere else, and with very nice atmosphere. A real hidden treasure on Tierra Verde. The restaurant is small, that makes it even better, no crowd, and the portions are more than generous! The establishment is family-run, and it shows with the kindness they treat their customers, you feel more like the honored guests in their home, and the care they take in serving up some of the best old-world style European cooking. Highly recommend just about everything! You will never go home hungry! My children love it, and it is the only really kids friendly restaurant around, with games on every table! Excellent service. It's a Must Visit Place and come back again, and again, and again :)

Really bad! We should have known when we were the only people there for Sunday breakfast there was a problem. I ordered an iced tea that was cloudy and dark. My husband ordered a soda which was tiny and was told after he drank it in 2 swallows there were no free refills. Our breakfast was burned and blah!!! Then when the waiter went to refill my tea he spilled it on my husbands baseball hat sitting in the chair next to me. What a waste of 30.00!! Do yourself a favor, cook at home!

Wow!!! Reminds me of family restaurants I frequented when I was stationed in Germany. Absolutely delicious!!!! Small, quaint, but incredible. Had the Jaeger Schnitzel, sauerkraut and potato salad. We also shared a couple of the crepes for dessert which were also out of this world. One crepe could feed two people. This will be our new dinner spot when we go to Pass-a-grill or Ft. DeSoto.
